The Street Price

A banh mi from a street vendor in Da Nang costs between 25,000 and 40,000 VND, roughly $1.50 to $2.40 AUD. Fresh bread, quality meat, packed with flavour. It is one of the best value meals you will find anywhere in the world.

The Airport Price

The same sandwich at Da Nang airport costs $12 USD, around $18.50 AUD. Stale bread, mediocre filling, and a price that has nothing to do with the food and everything to do with the location.

The Fix is Simple

Eat before you get to the airport. Hit a street vendor on your way, grab authentic food at real prices, and actually enjoy your last meal in the city rather than overpaying for something worse inside the terminal.

Airport food will always carry a premium. In a country like Vietnam where street food is genuinely outstanding and genuinely cheap, paying airport prices is one of the most avoidable mistakes you can make.
