You can choose to include a meal in your Jetstar International fare. What lands on your tray is not always what the menu photo suggested. Here is an honest rundown of four options.

Ham and Cheese Toastie

The standout of the four. Simple, does exactly what it says, no surprises. If this is available, it is the safe pick.

Bacon and Egg Roll

Looked promising on the menu. The reality was dry bread and a smoky tomato relish that tasted closer to BBQ sauce and completely overpowered everything else. Disappointing given how straightforward it should be.

Classic Beef Lasagne

Looked nothing like the photo, which will not shock anyone who has eaten airline food before. The taste was actually decent though. Do not judge it on presentation and you might be pleasantly surprised.

Vegetable Teriyaki Noodles

Worth avoiding. Overcooked vegetables, inconsistent textures, and an overwhelming amount of baby corn and water chestnuts. The least enjoyable of the four by a clear margin.

What Nobody Tells You Before You Board

Cold drinks are not included with the meal. Hot drinks only (coffee or tea). If you feel like a juice or soft drink with your lasagne at 35,000 feet, that is an extra cost. Worth knowing before you assume the drink is part of the deal.

Portion sizes are also on the smaller side. If you are a bigger eater, grab something before you board rather than relying on the included meal to keep you going.
