The Perfect Day concept is one of Royal Caribbean’s signature offerings, but the two locations take distinctly different approaches. Here is how they compare.

Perfect Day at CocoCay, Bahamas

The more established of the two, CocoCay is a private island owned entirely by Royal Caribbean. Beaches, water slides, a lagoon pool, and overwater cabanas, everything on the island is designed specifically around the cruise experience. There are no surprises, no external variables, and no sharing the space with anyone outside Royal Caribbean’s ships.

For passengers who want a polished, predictable beach day where everything works seamlessly, CocoCay delivers exactly that.

Perfect Day Mexico, Costa Maya

Currently under development, Perfect Day Mexico takes a different approach. Rather than a private island, it sits alongside an existing destination on the Costa Maya, giving it a more authentic local feel and access to the broader region beyond the beach club itself.

It suits travellers who want the infrastructure of a Royal Caribbean facility combined with something that feels more connected to an actual place. Perfect Day Mexico is due to open in northern Autumn 2027.

The Choice Comes Down to What You Want from a Port Day

Private island means total control and a curated experience from start to finish. Destination beach club means more character, more variety, and a sense of being somewhere rather than somewhere purpose built. Neither is wrong. They just suit different kinds of travellers.
