Seoul is one of those cities that rewards a well-planned day. These three stops give you a genuinely varied experience without burning hours on transit or overthinking the itinerary.
Namsan Sky Forest Path
Start here, and start early. The Namsan Sky Forest Path is an elevated walkway through dense greenery with views across Seoul that open up as you move through the route. It sits above the city without feeling removed from it, and the morning light makes it worth the early alarm. Once the day heats up and the crowds arrive, some of the atmosphere goes with them.
Changdeokgung Palace and Bukchon Hanok Village
These two sit close enough together to cover in a single block of time, and the contrast between them is part of what makes the combination work. Changdeokgung is a UNESCO World Heritage listed palace with formal gardens and beautifully preserved architecture dating back to the early 15th century. Bukchon Hanok Village is a residential neighbourhood of traditional Korean houses spread across the hillside between the palace and Insadong. Some of the homes are still lived in, which gives the area a different feel from a typical tourist precinct.
Give yourself a few hours for both. There’s enough to explore without rushing, and the walk between the two is pleasant, and you can grab a little snack on the way!
Myeongdong Night Market
Myeongdong is touristy and it knows it. That’s not a criticism, it’s just context. It’s street food and you can find so many different options it’ll be hard to pick just a few to try. Tornado potatoes, skewers of every variety, and the torched marshmallow filled with ice cream. The best approach is to walk slowly, eat constantly and not overthink the ordering process. Most vendors have photos and the lines move quickly.
Go in the evening when the stalls are fully set up and the street is at its busiest. The energy is part of the experience.
How to Sequence the Day
Namsan in the morning, the palace and village through the middle of the day, then Myeongdong in the evening when the night market hits its stride. It flows naturally across the city and covers three completely different sides of Seoul without any wasted movement.
