I stayed at New World Hoiana Beach Resort in September 2025, one of several hotels that make up the Hoiana complex near Hoi An, Vietnam. It’s a big resort with a casino, a golf club and its own beach club, and on paper it looks like great accommodation for the perfect trip. After a few days there, my take is more mixed than the marketing suggests.

The Room
The room was well finished and comfortable, with a layout that felt more spacious than most city hotels in Vietnam. Nothing about the room itself was a letdown. It’s built for resort living, somewhere you’re happy to spend time rather than just crash for the night. Everything is on a large and opulent scale and the balcony looking out to the ocean is a great touch, and perfect for a relaxed afternoon drink to take in the view.
Breakfast at New World Hoiana Hotel
This is where the resort actually stood out. The breakfast buffet was one of the best I’ve had. A wide spread and genuinely high quality across the board. If you’re a big brunch person, this alone is worth calling out as a strong point of New World Hoiana Hotel. You can also eat here as a visitor to the hotel if you are staying nearby, or want to make the trip to see what the fuss is about.
Pool, Beach and Beach Club
The pool and beach setup at Hoiana Beach Resort are exactly what you’d expect from a resort of this size. Clean, well maintained, and enough space that it never felt crowded during my stay. The beach club adds another option if you want a change of scenery without leaving the resort grounds. I didn’t go to the beach club during the day, but visited Nox of an evening where I enjoyed some music and drinks overlooking the pristine pool area.
Casino and Golf Club
Both the casino and golf club are the drawcards for most guests, and they’re a big part of what Hoiana markets itself on. I didn’t use either during my stay, so I can’t give a first-hand take. It’s worth knowing they exist if that’s part of what draws you to the resort.
Getting Around the Resort
Hoiana isn’t just one hotel, it’s a cluster of properties across the site. Most of it is walkable if you don’t mind a stroll, and there’s a resort shuttle if you’d rather not walk between areas.
Where the Resort Falls Short
While this isn’t the place you would be cooking for yourself, self-catering options are limited. Even to make a small sandwich for lunch would be difficult here. There are a couple of convenience stores onsite, but stock is minimal and prices run higher than what you’d pay elsewhere in Vietnam. It’s the same captive audience pricing you see at airports, so budget for eating at the resort restaurants and food court rather than stocking up yourself.
The bigger issue is distance. Hoiana Beach Resort sits 20 to 30 minutes from Hoi An by car, and while a shuttle service runs between the resort and town, timing isn’t flexible and there are only a set number of shuttles per day. There’s a real chance you don’t get the slot you want, which can throw your plans into chaos if you were depending on leaving at a certain time. Grab is available from the hotel if you want to organise your own transport, but the distance was a bit of a deal breaker if I wanted to visit further afield.
Should You Stay at Hoiana Beach Resort?
If you’re after a couple of relaxing days by the pool with excellent breakfast and don’t mind staying put, New World Hoiana Beach Resort delivers. But if exploring Hoi An and the surrounding area is part of your trip, I’d base yourself in Hoi An Old Town or An Bang Beach instead. Both are more affordable and put you right in the middle of things, rather than 20 to 30 minutes away with a shuttle that runs on its own schedule.
