Bali is one of those destinations where your accommodation choice shapes the entire trip. We tried both and here is an honest breakdown to help you decide.
The Hotel: Double Six Resort, Seminyak
Double Six Resort sits directly across the road from the beach. Walk out the front door and you are on the sand in under a minute. Massages, convenience stores, and cafes are all within easy walking distance, and dinner options are everywhere, with plenty more a short Grab ride away.
Buffet breakfast was included every morning, and the rooftop restaurant and bar meant easy evenings without leaving the property.
The tradeoff is space and privacy. Hotel rooms are comfortable but you are sharing the property with other guests. For couples or solo travellers that is unlikely to matter. For families or groups, room size is also worth factoring in.
The Villa: Canggu
The villa in Canggu was a different experience entirely. More space, a private pool, and a genuine sense of seclusion that a hotel simply cannot replicate. It felt more luxurious and more relaxed at the same time.
The tradeoff is convenience. Most meals meant ordering in or taking a Grab to dinner, at least a 10 minute drive each way. Less walkability means more planning, especially if you like being able to step outside and find food or activity immediately.
So Which Should You Choose?
It comes down to what kind of traveller you are. If you want easy access to the beach, restaurants, and local life with everything on your doorstep, a well located hotel wins. If you want space, privacy, and a pool to yourself, a villa delivers something a hotel cannot match.
Neither is wrong. They just suit different trips.
